French draughtsman and decorator, active in Paris in the years 1780-1790, Richard de La Londe made many drawings of furniture and works of art which were widely distributed by engraving, particularly in Œuvres diverses de Lalonde décorateur et dessinateur contenant un grand nombre de dessins pour la décoration intérieure des Appartements à l’image de la Peinture et de la Sculpture en ornemens. Des Meubles du plus nouveau goût. Des Pièces d’Orfèvrerie et de Serrurerie etc. (Paris, at Chéreau, 1780).

We can see the influence of this iconographic repertoire until the end of the 19th century as in Waddesdon Manor built by the French architect Hippolyte Destailleur for Baron Ferdinand von Rothschild (Fig.1)

Condition report – slight folds. Small lack on the right side.
