Still Life with Brushes

Oil on paper. Inscribed Adrien Sitt on pencil and numbered 29 in a circle.

148 x 184 mm – 5 13/16 x 7 1/4 in.

This small oil on paper presents a still life by an anonymous painter, who used his tools as models: paintbrushes, bottles and flasks, color boxes, jars and pots were combined with an elegant casualness to give us a glimpse of the studio. A successful evocation, the still life is painted in muted and subtle tones, in a range of ochres, except for the blue lid and the bright green little pot enlivening the composition.

Condition report – Good condition. A light fold in the upper right corner.
