These two little drawings are the work of an artist from the late 18th or early 19th century travelling in America, such as the painter Jean-Baptiste Debret who gathered in his Voyage pittoresque et historique au Brésil (1834-1839) the numerous drawings and studies that he made during his more-than-fifteen-years sojourn in Brazil (from 1815 to 1831) and which give unique testimony on the daily life of the local population of the time.
