Christ before Pilate
Traces of black chalk, pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash, heightened with white.
334 x 237 mm – 13 1/8 x 9 5/16 in.
This Flemish anonymous drawing bears medium similarities – brush and brown wash heightened with white gouache – with drawings by Frans Floris but do not share their mannerist tendency. It probably belonged to a series illustrating the Passion of Christ and was maybe preparatory for painted panels or prints.
See this other drawing from the same series.
Condition report: old backing tape on the verso and traces of an old mount.
