Portrait of a man
Black chalk and white chalk highlights on paper.
156 x 187 mm – 6 1/8 x 7 3/8 in.
The quality of this drawing in its modeling, the strength of the expression and the foreshortening of the face leaning towards the viewer, formerly led to this drawing being attributed to Léon Coignet. This attribution remains possible, but in the absence of any convincing evidence, we have decided to keep it unattributed. It is nevertheless a very powerful drawing, despite its modest size.
Condition : Very good condition. laid down on japon paper.
