Bears a stamp on the back “VALLART – 18 rue de la Paix – Paris”.

Gaspard Gobaut did his military service in the central administration of the Ministry of War. Hired as an auxiliary draftsman in 1836 he climbed all the ranks of his profession and was appointed first class principal draftsman and obtained the Legion of Honor in 1871. Many of his works can be found in the Musée de Versailles and also in Chantilly in the collection of the Duke of Aumale.
