This fresh and beautiful gouache shows a portrait of the Napoleonic wars German cavalry commander Friedrich Karl Freiherr von Tettenborn. A captain and major of the Austrian army during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, he also served in the Russian-German Legion attached to the Russian army and became a general.
Condition report – Good general condition; the gouache is fresh ; some small tears on the top edge ; traces of old mount on the back.
